There are those who have speculated that of that 85,000 (or whatever the number is) thoughts per day, 95% are just the same ones we had all the previous days.

I like new thoughts. That's why I enjoy the company of people who see life from a different perspective than my own. It is like a trip away without leaving home! ;-)

good post Lindy! I think it is also about catching those "voices" I remember years ago realising that I was still having conversations with "God" despite having rejected my Christian upbringing years before. I was shocked that I was still doing it. It had become so habitual that it took years to recognise it!!

What is it something like 85,000 thought a day we have? I think I probably have changed 20 or so thousand in all my personal development work over the same amount of years!!

Hi Alix, thanks for your comment. I agree with you and on your first point, that's a little scary to consider isn't it!

On your second point, I think knowledge in it's true sense is a lot harder to gain than it is to memorise information.

I enjoyed reading this post on NLP, Lindy.

My thoughts are: 1) Im wondering how we can judge another's change or not in that we really don't know where they were and how far they have travelled already - or not!!

And 2) it is easy to gain knowledge, much more difficult to see how it applies to ourselves personally and even when we realise where we need to apply it it is often just more "comfortable" to carry on with what we have always done!

I couldn't agree more. Timing seems to be with us. Not sure there are enough practitioners on the ground to satisfy the groundswell that I perceive beginning to lift.

No shortage of BS in any of this but the medium is also in a way the solution. One can soon discern those who have some solid understanding from the Pretenders if we get to know them using the social media tools.

Just wanted to add that Australia's most subscribed small business magazine, Dynamic Business features a social media "practitioner" - me - on it's front cover. This indicates that the time for social media and business is NOW.

Finally, if you don't at the very least conduct a review on how to apply social media to your business, rest assured - your competitors may be.

My son and I saw him in Philadelphia, along with one of my oldest friends and his wife. This is a true story. I am working on a movie script with the general goal of "Hollywood 2016". (You can laugh!) Last year a Headhunter rang me to see if I was interested in an IT technical role which I declined. However I was able to provide him with some referrals, so he didn't go away empty-handed. Then he asked whether he could help me and I said "Only if you have any contacts in the movie industry." There was stunned silence, then he told me that he had been a Hollywood producer and director of 7 movies - which I verified on the Internet as we were talking.
Moral: never cross anyone off your Network Contact List - you just never know in what capacity they might provide you with a valuable lead.

In business, as in life, we need to keep open-minded, try new things, revisit methods that have and still do work, ie in business hard copy newsletters.

We also need to allow time to assess whether new implementations are working for us or suit us in order to determine the effectiveness.

Social Media is just one of the ways in which we stay top of mind with our target audience. The best way to network, in my opinion, is still face to face but Social Media is a great "first introduction" and lead up to a face to face networking interaction to sustain new relationships.

Hopefully the message will get through to some business owners. It is not just personal attire, it is an attitude that we bring to a business as speaks to the standards we wish to set.

As a veteran of doing small business the hard way and only in my early stages of developing inter-linked systems for my small business, I am rapidly learning the importance of a holistic approach to business systems thinking.

What you write about dress is quite pertinent.

What we wear in our small business defines to those we interact with how we perceive ourselves and our commitment to our business.

It's 11:38pm but I'm still in suit pants and business shirt, because I'm still in my home office.

On Wednesday I interviewed and hired a new administrative assistant for my business. I did so in my home office.

I could easily have stayed in my track suit and old jumper, after all its my home this young man came to.

But I am taking my small business seriously, treating it as if I am the CEO of a multinational corporation.

Before his arrival, I showered, shaved, dressed in a suit and tie and met him with a sense of purpose, poise and commitment to excellence that I doubt I would have felt or presented had I stayed in the tracky dackies (Australian for track suit).

We consciously create our reality through our thoughts and we consciously create other people's perception of us through how we present ourselves with our grooming and sartorial selections.

And those are my thoughts for the moment.

It does sound like a very good start. I agree that helping people to understand and articulate what it is they really want is one of the keys to effective coaching.
The most effective coaches I have known go into every conversation with the best intention for their client and an innate ability to ask the 'right' questions at the 'right' time.

During my life I always looked for the information behind the common information, took it through the numerology to see what is really going on and listen to my intuition. concerning MJ I had a conversation with another therapist. She looked with human design chart and I with my beloved numerology and we came to the same outcome and already than I was waiting when he was walking out of us.
All the news we get from whatever place is only the surface of what really is, might be and surely on a spiritual plane there is more we all do not know unless we are psychic enough to look through space and time.
News keeps people in fear and by holding them there they are easy to rule by governments, trends and folks who want to sell the solvation of problems we do not have but were told otherwise.

What a lovely post and review!

What an artist. What a poet. Most of all, what a man, and by that I mean human being. so brilliant and humble at once.

oh my. I saw him last night here in Boston. He was sporting his fedora, of course. The man is 75. He'd skip onto and off the stage. His backup musicians were stellar, all. And he was so generous with them: whenever they sang or had instrumental solos, he'd take off his hat, sometimes getting on one knee right alongside to listen.

Boston adored him. At least 5 encores.

I am in love with Leonard Cohen: Brilliant, generous, heart-breakingly honest about his humanity. Which just makes him all the more beautiful, of course.

Hi Gertrude. It can be difficult to sort out which activities are going to be most effective in social media. I think perhaps the goal needs to be to build relationships - not make sales. You can never lose if you are gaining friends with great skills they are willing to share.

The only thing that brought clients was staying in the local health store and give on site massage so people can feel what I am doing and who I am in person.
