Documents To Download - Great For Business

Lots of businesses often have limited access to good quality documents when it comes to creating a new contract, or even knowing how to work through a process, particularly one that needs to be binding. I've seen clients billed thousands of dollars for a lawyer to draft them a document and then turn up with something that is obvioiusly a template they pulled off the shelf and didn't even bother to personalise to the needs of the business. Outrageous, and it happens.

So I was really impressed when I met Steve Irons and saw the depth of material available easily and quickly for download. While there may be cases where you still want a lawyer to sign-off on a contract, this is a great resource for you to access documents and tailor them to your need, and then if necessary, just get the lawyer to vet them before finalising (a lot cheaper!).

There are lots of free documents too and not all are of a legal nature, but many are on topics that you may not have considered, but really do need to have covered off in your business.

Merchant Circle In Australia

Merchant Circle has just announced their new networks opening in Canada, UK and Australia. I found these statistics interesting about differences in business around the world.

According to the UK Department for Business Innovation and Skills, 99.3 percent of the nearly 5 million registered businesses are small (0 to 49 employees).

- In Australia, 96 percent of the 2 million businesses in the country have less that 20 people, as reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

- In Canada, 57 percent of businesses have only 1 to 4 employees based on reports from the Business Register of Statistics Canada.

Local Talent: Doug Hall - Glossy FX

We have some very talented photographers in Newcastle and I had the pleasure yesterday of learning more about Doug Hall who is a man passionate about catching the essential element of a moment.

Doug works with clients to elicit and capture exactly what they’re looking for from the photographic session that will be meaningful for them and express their unique qualities.

Interestingly, Doug Hall is all about his work being an expression of his own desire to create magic and his decision to follow that passion informs all the decisions that he makes in his business. Why Coaching Is Great For Business

Many family businesses run into the issue of complexity getting in the way of doing what the owner likes to do. Often started as a technical ability the owner has, the business grows up around that skill, and suddenly the owner is not using their technical skills, but now running a business, which many have never trained to do.

Instead of doing the work they love, owners can be burdened with adminitration tasks, employee management, purchasing and financial juggling. customer demands and on and on it goes.

This can be very stressful for the owner, and everyone associated with it. The owner is trying to manage, sometimes not very successfully, but rarely are they leading, which is really what the business needs.

By assessing the current situation with the owner it often becomes clear that there are parts of the business that are just left not well managed, simply because the owner may not have the skills to cover that area. There can be a lack of overall strategy and vision for the business, with the owner instead, 'putting out fires' all day long and just trying to keep up.

Where coaching helps the client and the business, is by creating a way for the owner to see his business from a new perspective and to get clarity and separate the day-to-day issues, from the structural issues, so that improvements and a more streamlined system can be adapted to suit. A system which takes all the best parts of what is happening in the business already, and sets a clear path to improving those 'no go' areas that the business needs to have addressed, but which have been just 'too hard' and put aside.

What we know is that people operate at peak efficiency when they are doing what they love. This is important for a business, so freeing the owner up to do what they love and having the employees more productive, better organized and clear on their responsibilities, with the resources they need to accomplish their tasks, makes for less stress all around, happier customers, better financial outcomes and a business that is more valuable to sell.

Now that's a great example of why coaching is not just great for business... it is fantastic for business!
